Over five days “RENGA: regeneration” will make a boundary sieve along the edge of the Center for Maximum Potential Building Systems in Austin, Texas. Only the origin of the project is knowna finite palette of materials, blocks of time for the willing contributors, and a strategy for collaboration to guide the construction.
This installation will translate renga from a poetic form of writing into a dynamic constructive practice. As a model of collective interaction renga is truly an experiment in the making. Its outcome cannot be known in advance, only anticipated.
The Center for Maximum Potential Building Systems exists in the threshold between rural and urban. Each participant in “RENGA: regeneration” will explore through making the definition and interpretation of this boundary condition and the sieve that supports its existence.
